Umina Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC) is a well respected and socially conscious organisation. Established in 1959, it has been providing voluntary surf life saving services to the community for more than 53 years.
During this time, the population of the Central Coast has grown significantly, as has the popularity of Umina as a tourist destination. In the summer of 2011 – 2012 over 286,000 people visited Umina Beach. There were 138 Rescues – with no lives lost.
Umina SLSC plays an important role in keeping the beach safe and therefore makes a positive contribution in attracting tourists to the region. This has substantial ‘flow on’ benefits to local business and the community.
In addition to providing traditional surf life saving services, Umina SLSC conducts programs for other community groups. These programs include the Duke of Edinburgh award, training for indigenous groups, disadvantaged groups, overseas exchange groups etc.
In recognition of its achievements Umina SLSC will be co-hosting the NSW Surf Life saving championships for the next 2 years. It is estimated that over 10,000 competitors plus their families will visit the beach in the first week of March 2013.
The challenges to provide a safe beach to meet increased population and tourism can only be met with a financially strong, well resourced and growing surf club. There is an ongoing requirement to maintain and replace equipment and to provide training to current and future members.
Our sponsors reflect our core goals of:
- Maintaining our proud lifesaving record;
- Equip patrols with required lifesaving education, training and equipment;
- Encourage and facilitate healthy and balanced competitive participation;
- Create an environment that sparks a passion for community service and team participation within the ranks of our junior members;
- Assist our younger members to build skills that are transferrable to other parts of their lives.
As you can see there is a lot happening!
We therefore seek to develop relationships with similar, community minded businesses that would like to sponsor Umina SLSC to ensure that the high level of community service is maintained.
Umina SLSC welcomes all businesses and organizations. The Club has sponsorship packages to cater for all budgets. We are confident that we can add value to your products and services and assist with your community profile.
