COVID-19 Information Pack Sport 15 September 2021 (Version 5.3)
The commencement of and the restrictions which will relate to community sport have not yet been determined and advised by the NSW Government. Currently, there is no community sport permitted across the state. When they are advised, SLSNSW will notify clubs and branches.
There is still a degree of ambiguity around how the Public Health Orders should be interpreted in specific SLS contexts. SLSNSW has sought clarification from NSW Health via the Office of Sport around the definition of ‘community sport’ with respect to training, exercise, and organised activity
Exercise (e.g. sports training) is permitted in the Orders under the provision relating to outdoor gatherings, with the following restrictions on numbers in place
In stay at home areas (Which is still the Central Coast as confirmed by SLSNSW) : Up to 5 people (excluding those aged 12 and under) can gather in outdoor settings if all those aged 16+ are fully vaccinated (otherwise this is reduced to up to 2 people), including to participate in exercise (e.g. sports training).
Exercise includes training in Surfboats, double ski’s, etc. and is contingent upon compliance with all other relevant aspects of the Public Health Order
The plan and contents of this page are being reviewed and updated and will include the latest information aligned to official sources including the Australian Government Department of Health, NSW Health and NSW Sport.
COVID Safety Plan
Under the NSW Public Health Orders, the Club is required to complete a COVID-19 Safety Plan for each program area then register as a ‘COVID Safe Business’. A copy of the COVID-19 Safety Plan must be kept on the premises and be made available for inspection by an authorised officer if requested.
Physical and social distancing
A ‘Turn Up, Participate, Leave’ approach is in place for all activities.
Maintain a minimum of 4sqm per person; reduce/avoid close physical contact with others; and avoid crowds and do not enter a crowded space. Any person returning from Victoria and any of the reported case locations in NSW in the last 14 days must self-isolate and be excluded from participating in any SLS activities for a minimum of 14 days.
Record keeping for contact tracing
We are required to keep a record of name and a mobile number or email address for all members, participants, visitors and contractors for a period of at least 28 days. This requirement is mandatory.
The maximum number of people in each area is limited to 1 per 4m2 (4m2 rule). Each area of the Club has signage indicating maximum occupancy limits. Members must ensure they comply with the limits and do not enter an area if the limit has been reached.
Cleaning and disinfecting
The use of shared equipment, including club craft should be discouraged and if unavoidable they should be cleaned and disinfected frequently. Hand sanitation will be made available at entry points, soaps readily available in bathrooms and hand washing stations.
COVID Safe App
All members are encouraged to download the official ‘Coronavirus Australia’ App from the Apple App Store or Google Play, or join the Whatsapp channel on ios or Android.
