Become a Cadet Surf Lifesaver

Surf Life Saving has a role for everyone. In the water, on the sand or at the surf club – whatever your skills and interests there’s a place for you.

Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) Courses

The SRC is a step along the aquatic rescue award pathway to becoming a fully qualified lifesaver.

Suited to those who are typically moving from nippers to active membership, or someone who has not completed nippers but is looking to join our surf club on patrols as an active member.

Umina SLSC run one course a year at the end of the season in March/April to allow those who are in nippers to reach the minimum age required to complete the course.

The SLSA Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) and its aligned units of competency provide members with skills and knowledge related to workplace safety, radio operations, surf awareness, aquatic rescue operations and resuscitation.

Members who hold this award and its aligned units of competency may patrol in the role of a lifesaving cadet and as water safety personnel for SLS events. Proficiency in this award is renewed each year through SLS Skills Maintenance.
