Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC)
The SRC is a step along the aquatic rescue award pathway to becoming a fully qualified lifesaver.
Suited to those who are typically moving from nippers to active membership, or someone who has not completed nippers but is looking to join our surf club on patrols as an active member.
Umina SLSC run one course a year to allow those who are in nippers to reach the minimum age required to complete the course. The course is full-time over 5 days, however our trainers and assessors with work with the cadets to get them ready and assessed when competent.
The SLSA Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) and its aligned units of competency provide members with skills and knowledge related to workplace safety, radio operations, surf awareness, aquatic rescue operations and resuscitation.
Members who hold this award and its aligned units of competency may patrol in the role of a lifesaving cadet and as water safety personnel for SLS events. Proficiency in this award is renewed each year through SLS Skills Maintenance.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
- Financial Member
- Minimum Age of 13 years (Membership Category -Junior cadet member 13-15yrs) If not doing Nippers on Sundays.
- Complete an unaided swim of 200 m in 5 minutes or less (goggles and masks permitted) in a swimming pool if not less than 25 m, or over a measured open water course which will be observed before participating in any aquatic training.
